CONGRATULATIONS,
SPARTANS
Spartans journeyed to their homeland in Greece for the Trifecta World Championship. The course wound through the historic city, famous olive tree groves, and surrounding mountains for one of our most challenging treks yet.

After kicking things off with an Opening Ceremony and Nations Parade for the history books, we saw some of the fiercest competition of the season.

Starting with the Sprint on Friday, Richard Hynek snagged first place by the skin of his teeth, finishing less than a minute ahead of second-place winner Gregory Basilico, and just more than a minute ahead of third-place winner David Labrosse. On the women’s podium, Nicole Mericle, freshly crowned Sprint World Champion, proved her dominance once again, claiming victory in this race.

But Gregory flipped the script Saturday in the Super, finishing first. The race was just as tight, with all three winners finishing within two minutes of each other. The top three female runners finished in the same order as the Sprint, with Nicole Mericle taking first, Sabrina Daolio second, and Adéla Macečková third.

The Championship concluded Sunday with the Beast. Gregory and Richard battled neck and neck for victory, but ultimately, Gregory pulled ahead and won first place. Our women’s podium was nothing if not consistent, and placed in the same order for the third day in a row. Congratulations to our Trifecta World Champions:

🥇 Gregory Basilico
🥈 Richard Hynek
🥉 Marcel Fabian

🥇 Nicole Mericle
🥈 Sabrina Daolio
🥉 Adéla Macečková

Sunday also saw historic para-athlete participation. In a race to remember, we saw the largest-ever field of para-athletes competing on a global stage, and the Netherlands’ John De Haan and Tamara Janssen came out on top.

Additionally, Austrian athlete Constantin Schuler claimed his Spartan helmet and was crowned the 2024 Multi Trifecta World Champion, after completing an astonishing 30 Trifectas this year.

Over 120 Spartans earned their shields by completing 13 or more Trifectas! A special shoutout to Constantin Schueler, Yara Alves, Denny Kasche, Andrzej Tomczyk, and Joe Forney for achieving a remarkable 100 lifetime Trifectas each. Your dedication is truly inspiring!
