I’ve recently returned from a fantastic week aboard Atlas Ocean Voyages’ stunning World Traveller ship and wanted to share some of my highlights from my trip around the Mediterranean. Atlas are a new cruise line to SixStarCruises so I was excited to embark one of their expedition ships myself and share my experience with anyone who is new to the cruise line.

On-Board World Traveller
Embarking World Traveller in Barcelona, I was instantly impressed by the ship’s modern interiors and definite yacht feel. This was the easiest check-in process I have ever experienced and I instantly felt welcomed by friendly staff serving champagne and canapes on arrival.
Once I had checked-in, I was personally escorted to my suite, this was the first time I have experienced this on any ship and really set the tone for the service throughout my voyage. I stayed in the Horizon Stateroom, which was a great size with plenty of storage and had a comfortable bed facing a huge TV. The bathroom was spacious with a large walk-in rain shower and side jets. I also visited all the other stateroom/suite types and was equally impressed with the variety and quality of them all.
There are two dining options on-board for dinner, the main restaurant with a varied menu that changes daily and an outdoor grill that was also excellent. Lunch was always served buffet style with live cooking stations, where chefs serve up pasta and noodles made to order. At breakfast I enjoyed ordering from the room service menu and starting my day with a delicious meal in the comfort of my own stateroom.

Exploring the Mediterranean
Entertainment on-board had a real expedition feel with various lectures being held throughout the trip. I was on an Epicurean Expedition, so these helped to enrich our knowledge on the destinations we visited, as well as the cuisine and fine wines associated with their culture. We also had the opportunity to attend a wine tasting and chocolate demonstration, which were both excellent.
Evening entertainment was held in the Dome Bar and was lowkey with a great atmosphere, we had talented live singers and a fantastic pianist on a couple of nights.
Off-ship, we did a walking tour of St Tropez that was not too long but in depth enough to experience the beautiful town. We finished with a glass of wine and played Petanque with the locals, which is a boules style game and was great fun. Another feature I enjoyed was the fact that they allow you to visit the bridge, where the officers were happy to answer any questions, this was really interesting and was another first for me despite experiencing many cruises over the years.
