For our first day of exploration, we visited Kalna, which includes a ride on an electric rickshaw, plus a visit to Rajbari Temple Complex. We also visited a local market selling different kinds of local seasonal vegetable and fruit.
Back on-board we were treated to a cooking demonstration by head chef followed by cocktails and a special local performance.
The next morning after breakfast, we embarked on the city tour of Kolkata taking in the sights of the Flower Market and then Kumartuli, a traditional potters’ quarter in the north of the city renowned for its sculpting prowess. We finished off our day with a panoramic tour of the well preserved British colonial buildings.
The following day, we disembarked the beautiful ship and headed for a flight to Jaipur, where we were greeted and transferred to the hotel Oberoi Rajvilas, an amazing, authentic luxury hotel, one of India’s finest.
We visited Amber Fort, with views and architecture that were absolutely mesmerising, before spending time exploring the beautiful “Pink City”. Early evening we visited a local bazaar, for a spot of shopping, something I’ve never experienced before, very busy and bursting with colours.
The next stop on our trip was Agra where we stayed at the city’s best luxury hotel, the Oberoi Hotel Amarvilas. The hotel is inspired by Mughal palace designs; with fountains, terraced lawns, reflection pools and pavilions and best of all, offers unrestricted views of the Taj Mahal from all rooms and suites. Once settled into our suite we were transported by golf cart for a Taj Mahal visit. Here we witnessed the sunset on this beautiful masterpiece. Words cannot describe the feeling of visiting this awe-inspiring building.
After an early start we arrived at the Oberoi New Delhi, ranked number 1 city hotel in Asia. After check-in we visited Humayun’s Tomb followed by a visit to Raj Ghat then a scenic drive past the Red Fort & enjoyed a cycle rickshaw ride at Old Delhi, returning back to hotel drive passing government buildings, India Gate and Presidential Palace.
