I’ve recently returned from the best four days aboard Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne. Stepping aboard a Cunard ship for the first time, it’s safe to say the bar was set very high with its signature spaces that have been redesigned with a more contemporary yet sophisticated feel in mind.
Cruising with Cunard
Cruising on board one of the fleet’s four Queens is an unforgettable experience, delivering a luxurious White Star Service that promises to provide everything you need to enjoy a timeless-luxury experience at sea. You can travel around the world, encounter unforgettable ports, discover new & ancient cultures and so much more whilst you sail to your next destination. Wherever you choose to discover, you’ll find lots included in your fare from well-appointed accommodation and fine dining to fabulous entertainment and outstanding service.

On-Board Queen Anne
I stepped aboard Queen Anne and was immediately stunned by the ship’s elegance. The interiors were luxurious and modern with those classic Cunard touches that make the cruise line so iconic.
I stayed in a Britannia Balcony which was stunning and so spacious with a seating area, a vanity desk and an incredibly comfortable king-size bed which was equipped with 4 soft to firm luxury pillows. I walked in to a chilled bottle of sparkling wine waiting for me, which was such a lovely touch. The bathroom was huge with a generous-sized shower, luxury Penhaligon toiletries and fluffy towels and there was plenty of wardrobe space with a cosy Cunard robe in one of them. The balcony had lots of space and it was lovely in the mornings to open the curtains and let the daylight shine through.

The service was incredible everywhere I went and nothing is too much trouble for the crew on board. In the Britannia restaurant, you can order as much from the menu as you like, they are very flexible with anything you want to amend and will try their best to accommodate everyone’s needs. Your glass is never empty and they take extra care to make sure you have plenty of water and that you’re happy with every dish that is put in front of you.
My favourite restaurant had to be Aranya. The food was incredible and every dish was full of flavour. Everything from the cutlery, glasses, placemats and decor down to the food had such an authentic feel and I have never tasted Indian food like it. The pot-sealed biryani was amazing! The flavours were unbelievable, you could taste the cinnamon, nutmeg and garlic and the lamb was melt-in-the-mouth and cooked to perfection. We also received little extras outside of the menu like poppadoms with a delicious mint, mango and yoghurt relish, rice, naan bread and cream-buttered lentils – simply exceptional!

The afternoon tea was an amazing experience. This took place in the Queen’s Room, which is the perfect place to host afternoon tea with a real traditional feel. Before anything was served, a pianist played ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ and all the waitstaff came out with the tea and gathered around the dancefloor. The food was outstanding but the whole experience is what makes it memorable.
The sky bar and observation deck were lovely and quiet in the daytime. Located on deck 14, these were some of my favourite spaces to sit as they were tucked away from the busier areas. It’s perfect if you want to take a break from the sun with its shaded spots but turn the corner and there are some stunning spaces to soak up the sunshine. This area also included a paddle tennis court, putting green and shuffleboard.

Overall, my experience on Queen Anne was incredible from start to finish. I felt welcomed and any expectations I had were exceeded. The daily programme had activities for all ages and you were never short of something to do. The entertainment was another level and you could see the passion and talent shine through from every performer. The food was exceptional with the quality being high throughout all restaurants and eateries.
