When it comes to tea, everyone’s got their favourite. But no matter how many teabags you pack in your case (Yorkshire Tea came out top in our most recent Facebook poll), there something a bit special about sipping a cuppa from a plantation you’ve actually walked around. In Sri Lanka’s ‘hill country’ and India’s lush Kangra Valley, we’ll take you to emerald-green plantations, where you can watch expert pickers plucking the finest leaves and learn the art of tea ‘grading’.
It’s just one of many incredible experiences you’ll enjoy on our tours of Sri Lanka and northern India. In Sri Lanka, we combine tea tasting with national parks, Buddhist temples, botanical gardens and a safari. In India, meanwhile, we’ll immerse ourselves in the region’s cultural heritage, watching the holy ‘putting to bed’ ritual at Amritsar’s Golden Temple and witnessing the ceremonial changing of the guard at the border town of Wagah. Spectacular Himalayan scenery is the icing on the cake (best enjoyed from the windows of Shimla’s ‘Toy Train’).
If you’re looking for an amazing cultural experience, you’ll find it on both of these tours. They’re great value for money, too, with flights, VIP transfers and hotels included, plus expert guides to bring your destination to life. As a bonus, both have some fantastic savings on 2024 departures – you’ll need to hurry, though, as spaces are selling fast at these lower prices.
