The varied topography means that driving often isn’t the best way to get around. Instead, we’ll climb mountains on cogwheel trains, cross lakes by paddle steamer and chug through the countryside on panoramic railways. There’s free time to explore on your own, too – take the funicular and cable car high above Locarno, or wander through the vineyards surrounding Montreux.
