Travel allows you to expand both cultural and culinary horizons, where food in particular can give us important insights into how certain communities live around the world. To test your knowledge, we’ve put together a little quiz, where you have to guess the destination from the dish described.

B’ssara
A rich soup of dried broad beans that is traditionally served for breakfast, topped with a swirl of olive oil, a sprinkling of cumin and bread fresh from the oven. In fact, soup is often served for breakfast in this country, which is known for its rich flavours and tea, particularly mint.

The region’s most famous dish (notice how we said ‘region’? That’s another hint) is this spit roast lamb, cooked over an open log fire for several hours. This method of cooking is renowned in this part of the world, where the smoky and perfumed flavour of the meat is usually paired with a full-bodied red wine.

A type of steamed, filled dumpling stuffed with either meat or vegetables, momos are usually served with a sauce known as “achar.” It’s a popular street-food in this part of the globe, and is this country’s most original and oldest dish.
