This is the world’s longest road

And no,
we don’t have a new itinerary that completes it

I mean, don’t get us wrong, we’d love to introduce an itinerary that covers all 30,000 km of the Pan-American highway. Unfortunately the route can take years, beginning in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, it stretches through (both official and unofficial routes) 14 countries  before finishing in Ushuaia, Argentina. Since we’re all short on time (but never say never), we selected three of the Pan-American ‘stops’ to consider for your next trip.

 USA 
The USA is a must: the Pan-American passes through loads of major cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Diego. Besides, nothing says road trip quite like the USA, and is a cultural rite of passage that has been enjoyed in the United States since the 1920s. The rise of automobile manufacturers, like the renowned Henry Ford, meant more and more Americans began to plan and create the iconic road trips we still take today.

COSTA RICA
From Mexico, the PAH passes through every Central American capital, except Honduras’ Tegucigalpa (though it passes just 100 km south of it). This means Costa Rica’s San José shouldn’t be missed, along with the rest of this paradisiacal Central American country, that boasts unique ecosystems, incredible wildlife and stunning beaches.

ARGENTINA
Ushuaia in Argentina, marks the end of the Pan-American Highway, and what better way to end the most epic road trip in the world than quite literally at the end of the earth? In fact, Patagonia deserves to be explored in its entirety, being home to some of the most breathtaking panoramas the globe has to offer.
