WOW MOMENT
What left you speechless?
“Boring answer: Chichén Itzá, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, It was as good as I expected it to be! Another experience I will never forget, however, was swimming with whale sharks. Thinking about being in their habitat, observing them, swimming with them. They are huge, and it was insane to jump into the dark blue water and be so close to them in the middle of the sea. Simply breathtaking.”

INSTAGRAM VS REALITY
Was it what you expected?
I thought I would feel unsafe, but instead, since it was a fairly touristy area, I felt totally secure. Plus, we met a lot of locals and other travellers – which I think is the best thing about travelling. Another thing that amazed me was the Temazcal. It’s a Mayan ritual through which you purify your past and future. I thought it might be touristy, but instead it was a very powerful experience. I wouldn’t even know how to describe it adequately with words, it’s something that has to be experienced.

TOP TIPS
What would you suggest to pack?
Be prepared for the heat and sun, especially if you go in August (as I did). Refreshing wet wipes and mosquito repellent are definitely the two things not to forget. Also, take into account that the food is very heavy – a lot of fried food. That’s why I’d recommend bringing indigestion relief. Other things to deffo pack: hat, light scarf, flip-flops, trainers and sunglasses.
