Depending on who you ask, there are anywhere between 195 and 261 countries in the world. But whether you lean towards the first number (the official UN figure), or the latter (the CIA tally), we can all agree that some are better than others for solo travellers. WAY better.
Now a new study has pinpointed the crème de la crème of countries for unaccompanied globetrotters. After painstakingly analysing 6,000 comments on Reddit’s top 20 travel subreddits, one country came out as the clear winner: Argentina.
So what makes certain countries so good for solo travel? According to the Reddit data, there are a long list of considerations, including (but not limited to): safety; ease of navigation; quality of transportation; existence of language barriers and even the availability of good street food and liveliness of bar and café culture.
