The area has been designated the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, and it aims to keep the old feel of the town alive. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, hop aboard the White Pass Yukon Route Railway. Built in 1898 to open the Klondike to gold seekers, this vintage train takes you on a breathtaking journey through the mountains with spectacular views of waterfalls, glaciers and gorges along the way.

The Gold Rush Cemetery

Head to the Gold Rush Cemetery to visit the final resting place of some of Skagway’s most famous residents during the 1800s. Here you’ll find the tombstone of Jefferson “Soapy” Smith, a notorious con artist and criminal mastermind on the Last Frontier. Be sure to check out Lower Reid Falls just a few feet away from the cemetery.
