Downtown Skagway

Strolling through downtown Skagway feels like stepping back in time to the late 1800s. The area has been designated the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, and it aims to keep the old feel of the town alive. Wander through picturesque Broadway Street to enjoy historical buildings, charming shops, and quaint restaurants.

The Scenic Railway of the World

If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, hop aboard the White Pass Yukon Route Railway. Built in 1898 to open the Klondike to gold seekers, this vintage train takes you on a breathtaking journey through the mountains with spectacular views of waterfalls, glaciers and gorges along the way.

The Gold Rush Cemetery

Head to the Gold Rush Cemetery to visit the final resting place of some of Skagway’s most famous residents during the 1800s. Here you’ll find the tombstone of Jefferson “Soapy” Smith, a notorious con artist and criminal mastermind on the Last Frontier. Be sure to check out Lower Reid Falls just a few feet away from the cemetery.

Dog Sledding

Hands down, dog sledding is the ultimate wilderness adventure. Visit the Iditarod dog training camp, learn about Alaskan racing huskies, and cuddle with these adorable furry athletes. Then get ready to mush and have the time of your life on your very own dog sledding ride. There are several great sledding tours in town to choose from.
