MEDITERRANEO SORRENTO
Sant’Agnello, Italy
Like the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento promises tranquil seclusion with a bit of drama. The cliffside setting of Sant’Agnello in particular makes for extraordinary views out to sea, as well as some unusual topography. Mediterraneo benefits from both, looking across the Bay of Naples at the distant peak of Mt. Vesuvius.

TRIANA HOUSE
Seville, Spain
Named not only for its address but for its neighborhood, Triana House is bursting with local pride, not just for its own city, but for all of Andalusia — each of its seven rooms is named for a different site, from Córdoba to Alhambra and beyond. The details vary, but all are ornate, filled with bold colors and dense visual textures.

MONUMENT
Athens, Greece
The house that contains Monument is late 19th-century work by Ernst Ziller, a man whose architectural fingerprints are all over modern Greece. After a substantial but sensitive restoration, it’s a monument once more — a small and chic boutique hotel that aims to preserve local culture even as it updates it.

CENTRAL PRIVATE HOTEL
Queenstown, New Zealand
Several of New Zealand’s finest boutique hotels are the work of the Naumi group, including this one. Here the Wanaka-based creative agency Undercurrent was charged with adapting Naumi’s ultra-vibrant maximalism to the South Island setting. The result is a thoroughly local spin on the brand’s characteristic fantasy.

RAFFLES BOSTON
Boston, MA, USA
It’s fitting that the first American hotel for Singapore-based Raffles is in Boston. Raffles is all about classic elegance, after all, and so is Boston’s Back Bay. And while both are occasionally overshadowed by bolder and brasher competitors, there’s a quiet stylishness about them that goes deeper than trends.
