Alpine Boutique Villa Gabriela

Castelrotto, Italy

High up in the Dolomites, the adults-only Alpine Boutique Villa Gabriela is a year-round mountain retreat where you can do as much, or as little, as you like. Ten cozy rooms are dressed in a contemporary Alpine style with wood paneling and soft textiles, and some have added extras such as balconies or Finnish saunas.

Tella Thera

Kissamos, Greece

Tella Terra takes a pared-back approach to design with neutral, muted shades, clean lines, minimalist interiors, and raw, unfinished textures. But it’s as much about sustainability as it is about style, with furnishings crafted by local Cretan artisans, and rooftop gardens above each suite to help control the temperature.

Lionsback Resort

Moab, UT, USA

Lionsback is a luxury development for outdoor-oriented travelers. A hotel, complete with food and beverage service and other centralized amenities, is in the works, but the first phase of Lionsback is here: a collection of residential-style casitas, designed in a modern style and outfitted with high-end comforts.

Ca’n Beneït

Binibona, Spain

With its remote location perched up on a hill overlooking the peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana, Finca Ca’n Beneït is a place to get away from it all. Just ten rooms are housed in the carefully restored 200-year-old former chapel, which sits surrounded by 70 hectares of organic gardens, orchards, and olive groves.

Majagua Boutique Hotel

Oaxaca City, Mexico

Majagua does things differently. It’s housed in a restored 1950s Art Deco mansion, a rarity in the region, and is adults-only, with complimentary craft cocktails served at check-in. Rooms are light-filled and design-forward, with bespoke furnishings, artisan-made textiles, and eclectic art objects from Asia and Africa.

The Terrace Rooms and Wine

Isle of Wight, UK

Imagine you had a pair of stylish friends who restored an old Victorian house on the Isle of Wight, stocked the kitchen with great wine and produce from the local farmer’s market, then invited you to stay. That’s what it’s like to check in at Terrace, a boutique guesthouse set just above Ventnor’s historic esplanade.

KOSMOS Ulleungdo

Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea

A few dozen miles off Korea’s east coast is Ulleungdo, a volcanic island rich in natural grandeur and steep, breathtaking views. Kosmos Ulleungdo is planted like a docked spaceship on the edge of these cliffs, the vision of architect Kim Chan Jung made real in ambitious curves, spirals, and futuristic domes.
