The new Bob Dylan biopic is due to win some hardware at this year’s Oscars. We’re using the opportunity to highlight hotels located in places he mentioned in some of his greatest songs.

Hotel June Malibu has been the site of some important cultural moments. But its greatest accomplishment might be what hasn’t happened there.

The Oscars is the one time each year here at Tablet when we allow ourselves to forget about hotels for a minute and focus on another place where magic happens: the cinema.

Tiny morsels from the world of Tablet

Megalopolis didn’t receive any Oscar noms, but some of Francis Ford Coppola’s hotels have the honor of being in our selection, including Blancaneaux Lodge and Turtle Inn in Belize, La Lancha in Guatemala, Jardin Escondido in Argentina, and Palazzo Margherita in Italy.

Neither of Luca Guadagnino’s 2024 films received Oscar noms either, but Palazzo Talìa, the new hotel he designed in Rome, will surely earn raves.

Director Alex Garland’s 2014 film Ex Machina won an Oscar, it was also filmed at the Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway. Not coincidentally, the hotel was the subject of our most-liked post on Instagram this week.

For over 50 years, Oscar-winner Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort in Utah has been an incubator for achievements in cinema, culture, and conservation. The lodging and skiing are pretty swell too.

Our hotel of the week is Altis Belém, which plays against type by bringing a hyper-modern, hyper-luxe look to the ancient streets of Lisbon.

Congrats to the winners of our curation contest. We were pleasantly surprised by how many correct submissions came back so quickly. You really know your New York hotels! (FYI, the contest page now lists the hotel names.)

Each week we shine a light on some of our top Tablet Plus hotels. Twenty top Tablet Plus hotels, to be exact. Each Tuesday, specifically. You wouldn’t believe what we call it. Here’s the Tablet Plus Tuesday Twenty.

The longest stay booked on Tablet this past week was 15 nights at the Lure Hotel in Malta. Need to know more about Malta? We got into it.

As always, hotels are on sale.

Be kind.
