Tiny morsels from the world of Tablet

During last week’s episode of HBO’s And Just Like That…, Charlotte took her family on a glamping trip to, where else, Collective Governors Island. If you didn’t read our recent profile, read it now.

Speaking of Collective Governors Island, on Instagram we documented our early June visit with a very kid-friendly video. Come for the ferry, stay for the Statue of Liberty.

Speaking of friendly things, USA Today named New York’s Plaza Hotel one of the pet-friendliest hotels in the U.S., praising their Canine Companions Package. Also on the list: Inn by the Sea in Maine, Paws Up in Montana, and Carneros in Napa.

In 1944, in an old stone building in Lagrasse, a French family sold baguettes while secretly housing a Jewish couple from the Germans. The year-long effort ended happily, and now the building is Bouquerie Lagrasse, an elegant small hotel.

Country House Villadorata was in our recent Sicilian road trip story. But we did not mention its sister hotel, Seven Rooms Villadorata in Noto. Problem solved.

Mark Antony liked southwestern Turkey so much he gave it to Cleopatra as a gift. We like it so much we’re giving you a rundown on one of the most exciting hotels to open there in years, Bodrum Loft.

The longest stay booked on Tablet this week was 14 nights at Casa Almagro in Madrid, with design by Studio Marincola Architects and artwork curated by Galería Alvaro Alcazar.

New this week, a trio of Japanese hotels deserving of your attention: Hoshinoya Taketomi Island in Okinawa, Hoshinoya Karuizawa in Nagano, and Hoshinoya Kyoto in… Kyoto.

Want to know which hotels provide $100 credit to Tablet Plus members? How about some of the best you can imagine, like Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado, Reschio in Umbria, The Estate in Napa Valley, and Theoxenia in Mykonos.

Our hotel of the week is Hotel AWA in Chile, five stories of concrete, glass, metal, and wood that look over the spectacular Lake Llanquihue and Osorno volcano.

Speaking of glass, wood, and stone, No.14 Verbier is as rare as it is ritzy. This chalet in the Swiss Alps is available for up to 26 guests on an exclusive-use basis and comes with a dedicated team of private chefs, drivers, and hosts.
