Speaking of Nicaragua, Jicaro Island Ecolodge is a small and stylish retreat on a private tropical island, accessible only by boat, and featuring just nine casitas tucked into the forest like quiet treehouses.

You remember when we looked at a lot of small hotels in southern and northern Japan. A few new hotels worthy of those lists are these modern masterpieces: Kikka in Nagasaki, Soneka in Hokkaido, and L’isola the Bird in Kumamoto.

Speaking of birds, The Bird in Bath is just one of many delightful UK hotels and inns with animals in their names, including The Pig in the Wall in Southampton, The Bonnie Badger in Gullane, and Hare and Hounds in Newbury.

The longest stay booked on Tablet this week was 14 nights at Warren Street Hotel in Tribeca, Firmdale’s third location in New York City.

Speaking of Tribeca, the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival is in full flow. If you need a hotel in the neighborhood, a few more of our favorites are Robert DeNiro’s Greenwich Hotel, The Roxy, and Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s.

Speaking of film, our hotel of the week is Las Alamandas in Costalegre, Mexico. The resort was featured in Sofia Coppola’s 2020 movie, On the Rocks. It’s also 25% off for stays through October when you book now on Tablet.

On our Instagram, another video in our series with photographer Alex Kittoe, who intricately slices and layers his own landscape images to create wonderful new worlds for hotels in our selection.

“A lot of influencers and so-called content creators are coming for my crown. Just remember one thing. As relaxed as I look, I don’t do this because I want to, I do it because I’m the GOAT.” — From our 2019 interview with the hot stone massage model
