Troutbeck, in New York’s Hudson Valley, has been a creative retreat for well over a century, having welcomed literary luminaries like Twain, Emerson, and Thoreau. Now it’s our most-liked post on Instagram for the week.
Our hotel of the week is SB Winemaker’s House in Mendoza, Argentina, created by none other than Susana Balbo, the country’s first female winemaker, and her daughter, Ana Lovaglio Balbo.
According to Roch, an organization that certifies hotels for their dog-friendliness, the most canine-accommodating accommodations are The Surfjack in Honolulu, Hotel Café Royal in London, The St. Regis Bahia in Puerto Rico, Montage Los Cabos in Baja, and Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany.
The longest stay booked on Tablet this past week was 14 nights at The Standard London, which makes its home in the old Camden Town Hall Annexe, and pays loving tribute to the utopian currents of Seventies modernism.
Seeking sustainability? Seek no further than Silvestre Nosara in Costa Rica. This small, surf-centric hotel hardly makes a decision without considering its impact on people, wildlife, and the environment.
