The region’s most famous dish is paella, but other regional delights are abundant. Some of our favorites include:
|
|
• Coques: flatbreads with sweet or savory toppings, often considered the Valencian or Catalan cousin to pizza.
• All i pebre: stew with eel and potatoes simmered in a sauce with garlic, paprika, and almonds, creating a flavorful dish.
• Bunyols: fritters with a hint of pumpkin in the dough.

If you’re visiting Athens, your itinerary is probably centered around seeing big-named items like Acropolis and Parthenon. But did you know about their culture of outdoor cinemas?

A beloved spring and summer tradition in Athens is heading to the outdoor cinema (therino cinema) to catch a movie with the city as a backdrop. The popularity of outdoor cinemas in Greece surged during the 1950s and 1960s, with over 500 open-air theaters in the greater Athens area. Today, there are 65 such cinemas in the city, combining a touch of 1950s nostalgia with modern amenities. These venues, found on building terraces, in parks, and amid iconic Greek apartment buildings, showcase a diverse selection of films, from old Hollywood classics to Greek indie cinema and the latest blockbusters.
